Have a Boulder-based brand you absolutely love? Let us know about it and why they’re great in the comments.

Who Are They

Blue Moose of Boulder has been producing tasty snacks for almost 20 years. The businesses formed after they were inspired to create fresh and flavorful foods and thus began their line of snack foods. All of the products are made with zero preservatives and all natural ingredients.

What to Try

The protein-packed hummus is thick and creamy, perfect for snacking (with chips, crackers, or fresh veggies), a healthy alternative to mayo on sandwiches and wraps, or even a creative base for a pizza or pita. Flavors include original, roasted red pepper, green chile, garlic, lime and black bean, and smoked chipotle. Find a suggestion for each variety on their website. For example, they suggest using the smoked chipotle as a base for veggie tacos.

Looking for a snack on the go? Their on-the-go snack sized hummus comes with gluten-free multi-grain chips for dipping. It’s a great option for hikes, a snack at work or school, and any days you’re headed to the airport. The snack size is available in original and roasted red pepper.

The fresh salsa comes in three varieties depending on how spicy you like it: mild, medium, and hot. Tomatoes, onion, lime juice, seat salt, cilantro, garlic puree, jalapeno pepper powder, and spices are among the few ingredients. Topping a morning scramble, mixing with their original hummus, and adding to tacos are some serving suggestions they offer for the salsa. Just a note, the hot salsa is described as “perfect for risk takers with a serious kick”, and a little goes a long way.

They also offer basil pesto (a regular one and a nut-free variety) and a variety of cheese spreads. Cheese flavors include roasted red pepper and aged cheddar, green chile and and aged cheddar, Tex-Mex smoked gouda, and Southwest pimento cheese spread.

What Makes Them Great

All of Blue Moose’s products are protected with Cold Pressure, or High Pressure Processing. What does this mean, you ask? All packages are preserved by a combination of cold water and intense pressure instead of a bunch of unwanted preservatives and too much processing.

Where to Find It

You can find Blue Moose products at many area Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, Safeway, King Soopers, and Costco. Search your area to see where the nearest location is.
