Boulder Food Trucks: Tasty Meals on Wheels

verdeFar be it from Boulder to miss their opportunity to throw their chefs hats into the ring when it comes to the tastiest new culinary trends and, happily for me, that includes food trucks. I adore these modern day iterations of food trucks because I can get top quality food without any of the pretense that comes with going out to a fancy restaurant.

It could be created by one of the top chefs in the country, but no one is going to look at me disapprovingly when I’m diving face first into a five star feast served in a paper tray while still wearing yoga pants as long as there’s a food truck nearby. Which is one of the main reasons I love the assortment of delicious Boulder food trucks.

The other reason is because they’ve found this symbiotic relationship with breweries that creates a beautiful pairing of cuisine and craft beer that makes my little old taste buds sing the hallelujah chorus in perfect six-part harmony. So yeah, I like food trucks. Here are some of my favorite sightings of Boulder food trucks and where you can find them.

Cheese Louise

You had me at cheese. This truck is not for the lactose intolerant and vegans best divert your eyes. However, for those of us that can’t go a day without dreaming about Gruyere, Brie or Cheddar, this place is heaven on wheels.

They don’t have a calendar on their site, but you can follow them on Twitter or Facebook to see where their cheese wagon will be parked for the day.

The Tasterie Truck

This global food truck brings in tastes from around the world, depending on the season. While their current food truck menu doesn’t mention them, they are purported to have face meltingly good cupcakes. This seems like a good choice for putting a smile on all the faces of a group of picky eaters.

Their schedule is posted on their website and they keep up-to-date Facebook and Twitter pages as well.

Top of the Hill Grill West

Because apparently there’s a grill on top of a hill in the east? Who cares about East, West, up or down when it comes to BBQ? This trailer dishes out some mouth-watering barbeque for a reasonable price. It does quite a few private events, but it still shows up at business parks around Boulder to make sure there’s an uptick in wet nap use in the area.

They don’t have a website, but they’re pretty good at posting their locations on the Top of the Grill Facebook page.

Verde

Warning! The Verde website autoplays mariachi music, so be warned (it’s easy to find the stop button thought). As an aside, I was listening to salsa music when the site started autoplaying so I didn’t even realize what was going on for a second.

I digress. This cute green truck dishes up Mexican food all over Boulder. The perfect handheld meal, tacos, burritos and quesadillas are a great addition to any food truck scene. Plus, ladies and gentlemen, they have breakfast tacos. Yes, tacos for breakfast. Trust me, it makes the world a better place.

Get the schedule on their Twitter or Facebook page; whichever social media platform suits your fancy.

I know that Louisville and Lafayette have city approved “food truck evenings” during the summer that draw a bevy of food trucks, but I have yet to find an event like this in Boulder proper. I believe this has quite a bit to do with Boulder’s fairly strict food truck regulations, especially in Downtown Boulder, which I think is just ridiculous. There are talks about relaxing the rules, (which we covered a year ago, but it doesn’t seem like there was much change) but who knows if that will happen or not.

I would love to be able to proclaim an event of this sorts from the heavens, so if anyone has heard of a food truck in party in Boulder, please shoot me a message.
