Happy Halloween, Boulderites! Aside from the fact that we’re already trying t make you sick by showing you an image of a wad of candy corn (mmmmm — candy), there’s lots to do today to get one more stretch out of that ingenious costume you came up with this year.
Our quirky and creative town has been celebrating Halloween with fiendishly festive activities throughout the weekend, and the fun continues today! From sweets and treats around Boulder to the ever-popular (and adorable!) Munchkin Masquerade on Pearl Street Mall, Halloween is a holiday that gives Boulder the chance to embrace the weird and wacky and have a great time! Here are a few of the specials, events, and fun happening throughout Boulder today, October 31st.
Get into the Halloween spirit with the family with a variety of fun events and activities happening in Downtown Boulder this afternoon.
Get ready for the cutest invasion of ghouls, goblins, ghosts, and more on the 1100 Block of Pearl Street Mall from 3:00 – 6:00 PM for the Munchkin Masquerade! Recommended for children ages twelve and under, this is a wonderful opportunity for your little ones to get in on the Halloween fun and participate in some uniquely Boulder trick-or-treating. There are over 100 locations on and around Pearl Street Mall handing out goodies this year, including local establishments like West End Tavern, Pasta Jay’s, Ozo Coffee Co., the Boulder Book Store, and oh so many more.
Why shouldn’t your fur babies also get in on the Halloween creativity too? Stop by The Riverside starting at noon for their Halloween Party & Doggy Costume Contest. Dress up your pup spooky or cute and enjoy live music and plenty of revelry. Proceeds will go to the Humane Society of Boulder.
While you’re downtown celebrating with the family, stop by paint studio PoshSplat for some free treats and candy and to enter your name to win a free painting class for you and your kiddo!
For some slightly more adult Halloween fun, check out the Halloween Mayhem drink specials and live music at License No. 1 starting at 5:00 PM. Winners of their costume contest win a $50 bar tab. If you’re looking to get spooked and want to learn a little haunted Boulder history, check out Boulder Ghost Tours with Banjo Billy’s Bus Tours as well!
Food & Drinks
Boulder’s restaurants and breweries have some scary good ways to treat their patrons in store for today as well.
Check out Shine Restaurant & Gathering Place tonight starting at 8:00 PM for a monstrously fun free dance party! With ghoulishly good cocktail specials, including their Owl Eyes Potion and Fairy Bubbles drinks, and a new fall cocktail menu for you to enjoy, this is the place to be to get your boogie on tonight.
Roadhouse Boulder Depot is also offering a free toy or candy to any kids that wear their Halloween costumes to the restaurant today. They’ve got some seasonal and festive food and drink specials too, like their squash ravioli and pumpkin cheesecake (for when you’re looking for a little more than what’s in the candy bowl!).
Wild Standard Land and Sea will also be participating in the Munchkin Masquerade fun and will be handing out GMO organic candy to participating trick-of-treaters. They also have a special drink they’ve whipped up called the “Voorhees Crystal,” a nod to Jason Voorhees of Friday the 13th villainy and Crystal Lake, where he is from.
No matter how you celebrate, Boulder, be sure that you have a smart and safe Halloween holiday!
