Things to Do on Thanksgiving in Boulder Besides Stuffing Your Face and Lying Around

thanksgiving-in-boulder

Listen up, ladies and gentlemen, this post is strictly for those of you who aren’t pleased as punch with the Thanksgiving Day status quo: eat more food than the human body is designed to contain at in one sitting and then sit around complaining about how much you just ate.

For those of you who aren’t content with these hallowed Thanksgiving traditions, I’m going to give you some options for fun having this Thursday.

Go for a Hike

Oh, I see, you’re less “feaster” and more “go faster.” Well, if you’ve been reading YourBoulder for any stretch of time, you know we have an astoundingly good selection of reviewed hikes around Boulder for Thankgiving, fit for the whole family, complete with stunning photos. You literally don’t even need to leave The Bubble to find a great hike for Thanksgiving so you can save all of your energy for that hike you’re going to take.

Get in a Morning Run

While it’s not Boulder proper, the Louisville Turkey Trot is just a short car or bus ride away and well let you get your blood pumping first thing in the morning. This race costs no money, but you must bring a donation of nonperishable food or winter clothing to help your fellow Boulderites in need this season. Meet up at the Louisville Public Library and bring your whole family!

See a Movie

Treat yo’ self and go see a movie on Thanksgiving. While the Century Theatre and AMC 14 have limited movies showing, Cinebarre is offering movies of every genre. Here are the movies showing on Thanksgiving Day:

  • Century Theatre: Coco
  • Cinebarre: Justice League, Coco, Thor: Ragnarok, Daddy’s Home 2, Wonder, Murder on the Orient Express, The Star, Lady Bird, Roman J. Israel, Esq., and the LEGO Ninjago Movie
  • AMC Flatiron Crossing 14: Justice League, Coco, and Wonder

Grab a Drink

Feeling a little overwhelmed by family politics or just want to get out of the house for a bit? Head over to a bar for a nice cocktail or craft beer. Chances are you’ll find a fellow patron to trade Thanksgiving “war stories” with while at the bar.

While I’m sure that more bars than these are open on Thanksgiving, these are the confirmed open bars in Boulder this Thursday: Boulder Chophouse, The Corner Bar, Mountain Sun.

However you choose to spend your Thanksgiving this year, I hope it’s a great one!
