T|aco Boulder: Tacos, Margaritas, Beer (is there more?)

I don’t even try to hide it anymore — T|aco in Boulder is my favorite destination for lunch meetings, early afternoon meetings, happy hour meetings.

I’m a sucker for a Pineapple Haberñero margarita (holler — that just happened). I figured that since YourBoulder hosted its first event there not so long ago, it’s high time I laid out exactly what you’re missing in case you haven’t bopped by there yet.

Given that I’m the person who substitutes the word “taco” for everything, T|aco in Boulder is a bit of second heaven. Their menu boasts no fewer than nine taco varieties on any given day (not just Sunday), including everything from a vegetarian version with pepitas that will knock your hemp socks off to a skirt steak that’s oh-so-tender every time. If you have time mid-day, I recommend the daily lunch special — 3 tacos and a Pacifico for $10. The service is fast, always courteous, and the food? Beyond just “good” — the fastest, lightest Mexican food in Boulder (and kinda anywhere– this coming from a Texas girl).

Shall we raise a glass? I mentioned the Pineapple Haberñero margarita — a concoction guaranteed to make you glad you rode your bike to happy hour. There’s also everything from their hour margarita (which you can score for $4 at happy hour), a Smoky Margarita (Tequila, Patron Citronage, Lime Juice, Del Maguey Vida Mezcal), and even the T|aco Cosmo (El Tesoro Platinum, Patron Citron, Splash of Cranberry). There’s always plenty of Pacifico on tap along with all your south of the border favorites like Tecate and Dos Equis. When the weather is in your favor, drink on the patio for some good Walnut Street people watching action.

And if you’re one of the brave souls who ventures beyond the Boulder Bubble, you can find T|aco at its second location in Larimer Square in downtown Denver. Delicious, reasonably priced Mexican fare in two Front Range counties? It’s like making out with one of those lucha libre guys with the mask off.

I mean, if you’re into that kind of thing.
