Best Coffee Shops in Boulder for Getting Work Done

Best Coffee Shops for WorkingLet’s face it, working in an office is so early 2000s. The place where most of us get our work done (at least in Boulder) is at the coffee shop. Boulder coffee shops offer a wide variety of places to sit back and sip a cuppa joe, but some of the places are more conducive to work than others. Here are the best places to grab a cup of coffee (or tea, we won’t judge) in Boulder County.

Amante Coffee

This trio of shops has slowing been growing in the Boulder coffee shop community for years now, Amante Baseline is the newest addition and the biggest space. So far, it’s been largely undiscovered by both the college and startup crowd, so it’s very easy to get a drink and find a spot upstairs or down. Amante Uptown is a bustling hot spot largely filled with entrepreneurs working and having meetings with clients. Amante Walnut, located just off the Pearl Street Mall, in the heart of downtown, is definitely the busiest and the loudest of the three locations, and has a mix of students and entrepreneurs alike. All three shops have comfortable seating and reliable wifi.

Ozo Coffee Pearl

This bustling coffee shop has tons of seating and a knowledgeable and efficient staff, so you’ll get a great espresso (some say it’s the best in town) and you’ll have it in a jiffy. There are plenty of two tops that are perfect for just you and your laptop and a goodly amount of electrical outlets for plugging in when your laptop is running low.

Boxcar Coffee

Located right on the Pearl Street Mall, Boxcar Coffee is the perfect Boulder coffee shop for getting a little work done, with a side of people watching. The wifi is free and the coffee is roasted in house. This is a good place to park for a while to get work done. It’s also a pretty good mix of students and startups.

The Cup

Along with the great coffee, free wifi and great coffee, The Cup offers something that few other coffee shops in the area do: a quiet area. This space, located through a narrow corridor near the back of the shop, is a dedicated quiet zone. No talking, no phones, just peace and quiet and a bank of power outlets. This place is perfect for getting down to business.

Red Rock Coffeehouse

If you’re looking to venture out of downtown a little, give Red Rock Coffeehouse a try. Located on 28th and Iris, the parking here is free (and ample), the wifi inside is free and the power outlets are a-plenty. This place is a little more low key than a lot of the downtown locations, so opportunities for productivity are pretty high.

So there you have it. While there are plenty of options for coffee in Boulder, there are some places that are simply better for getting work done than others. That’s not to say you can’t find a great place to catch up with a friend as well, but these are a great option for when you need to get down to business.
