The Blind Café (in conjunction with Blind Cafe Music Productions) are bringing their blind meal event tour to Boulder this month. A pop-up event including meal, music, and mind-expanding Q&A, the Blind Cafe event is unlike any other blind meal experience you may have heard of in trendy foodie news.
The Meal
Trained legally blind servers facilitate a meal prepared by Blind Cafe chef Jamie Harrington and consulted by local chefs, concocted from local, sustainable, and in many other ways healthy ingredients, enjoyed entirely in the dark (not under a blindfold). Flavor and aroma is paramount, as you experience food like never before.
The Music
Blind Cafe Music Productions offers a live musical experience with full audio involvement. Without the visuals, without cell phones and other distractions, absorbing the specially composed music in this way posits an unbelievable experience.
The Experience
No sight, no cell phones, no blindfolds. Food, music, and the company of the conversation of new friends. Blind keynote speakers will host a talk and Q&A session, to further deliver into the sensational (literally) experience.
NOTE: Blind Cafe wants to reiterate that this is not a therapeutic exercise meant to show to sighted people how blind people feel and function. It’s a unique experience all its own, centered on the sensual enlightenment of all attendees. Though, to judge from the many testimonials online, it can indeed be therapeutic in the best way.
