Give Boulder’s Piece, Love & Chocolate a Chance

By Tara Calihman

One step inside Boulder’s West Pearl chocolate store, Piece Love & Chocolate, and you know you’re a goner. I can tell you about the intense smell of chocolate that hits you when you cross the threshold, but this place is one that has to be experienced firsthand to be believed. Yes, it’s a store that sells all things chocolate. But it’s also so much more. If there’s any hope for the existence of magic and fairies in Boulder, it’s probably inside Piece, Love & Chocolate.

Upon first entering Piece Love & Chocolate, you’re greeted with row after row of artfully designed chocolate truffles in more flavors than you can imagine. Everything from champagne to blueberry to s’mores to peanut butter to mango. Then, to the left of the truffles, there is the case of baked goods. And let’s not forget the other case of baked goods located to the right of the truffles or the wall of chocolate bars from around the world. Whew. One can get a cavity just reading about it.

Looking for a chocolate accessory or a gift for that favorite chocoholic in your life? (Is it really November already?) Take a deep breath because Piece Love & Chocolate offers gifts aplenty. There’s cocktail napkins, t-shirts and other chocolate-related paraphernalia. I mean, who doesn’t love homemade marshmallows or bacon dipped in chocolate? Or just a box of chocolates?

There are a few small tables with chairs in the front of the store so that you don’t have to buy your chocolate and run. No one wants melted chocolate. Unless you do want melted chocolate. And then may I suggest PLC’s house sipping chocolate. Wow. They also have a menu full of hot chocolates, mochas and many other forms of drinkable chocolate. Like I said, this place is dangerous.

The store offers custom cakes and pastries, for sale whole or by the slice and those looking for gluten-free offerings can rest assured that there are a few amongst the cookies, brownies and cakes. Whether it’s the perfect little something to say thank you or a tasty morsel in celebration of the big day, Piece Love & Chocolate provides something delicious for everyone.
