There’s nothing more painful than stepping on a LEGO block barefoot. It’s a certain circle of hell that Dante’s editors deleted, filled only with sharp edges and brightly colored blocks.
But man alive — I do love me some LEGOS. Which is also why I love me some ATOMS.
If you’re not familiar with ATOMS, they’re a Boulder-based toy startup (or, tech startup if you’re being snobby about it). Launched in 2012 through a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, ATOMS are already changing the way today’s kids play with LEGOS. Affordable, durable, and versatile, ATOMS are sold individually and in themed sets. They can attach to LEGOS, be sewn into fabric, and nailed to wood. Designed so any kid can understand ATOMS within five minutes of play, ATOMS breaks down technology in a simple, understandable, and most importantly, fun way. You can check out all the cool things that ATOMS can do in the video below.
Nothing but awesome right there.
So, as the winter chill thaws and you’re looking for something for kids of all sizes in your house to do — why not check out one of the “Now Building” workshops at ATOMS? Through February 27, they’re running almost daily workshops from 4-7PM and 10AM-4PM on Saturdays with the theme Antarctic Explorer. Kids of all sizes are welcome (cough DAD cough). Details on the workshops and how to RSVP are in the image below. Attendance is limited to the first 25 builders each session and you can easily RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org. Their offices are easy to find, just over on Spruce between 15th and 16th. When you arrive, the build room is located upstairs.
