Title: Coherence and Discrete-Variable Readout in a Membrane-Based Electro-Optic Transducer Speaker Name:Luca G. Talamo Event Details: Membrane-based microwave-to-optical transducers are unique hybrid quantum platforms that will benefit from robust optical control. I demonstrate all-optical preparation of large coherent membrane states through the cavity-optomechanical interaction and bound the time-resolved decoherence of these states in the context of quantum memories, transduction, and sensing. Then, I integrate single-photon detection with these membranes with the goals of heralding entanglement between superconducting processors and heralding nonclassical states in macroscopic mechanical objects. Underpinning these results is the ability to operate high-finesse cavities in a high-vibration commercial dilution refrigerator. Together, these represent an expansion of the optical control toolbox for membrane-based transducers.
