STUDIO 24: Intro to Darning: Basic Repairs on Knit Fabric like Sweaters and Socks with Katrina Rodabaugh
Thursday, August 27, 2026
2:30pm – 4:30pm
STUDIO 24 Classroom, NoBo Library, Makerspace STUDIO 24
Learn the basics of darning knit textiles like sweaters, socks, hats, and scarves. These mending techniques can be applied to a wide range of clothing items and home textiles constructed of knit fabrics. We’ll cover useful stitches, weaves, and basic design elements to make thoughtful repairs with yarn and thread. This is a great foundation class for repairing knit fabrics like sweaters and will provide resources for mending beyond the classroom. Please bring one clean textile to darn that’s made from knit fabric like most sweaters, socks, hats, scarves, blankets, etc.—no woven fabrics like jeans, please, we’ll cover those techniques in patching classes.
