The CU Retired Faculty Association at Boulder Presents: The Climate and Habitability of Planets around other Stars w/ Bruce Jakoksy

The Climate and Habitability of Planets around other Stars w/ Bruce Jakoksy Wednesday, October 28th, 3:00 PM, The Canyons Center Movie Theatre at Frasier Meadows, 350 Ponca Pl, Boulder, CO 80303 We know a tremendous amount about the Earth’s history, climate, and nature of life. We know less about Venus and Mars, but still enough to understand how they’ve evolved through time and why they are so different from each other. We know very little about the Earth-sized planets orbiting other stars. What are their climates like? Could they harbor life? We can use the very different planets in our own solar system as a guide to understanding the behavior of these “exoplanets” — What accounts for these differences? What do they tell us about how exoplanets might have evolved and what their climates might be today? We’ll discuss these questions along with the potential for life to exist outside of our solar system. Biographical Sketch Bruce Jakosky is a planetary scientist whose work has shaped m...
