Using Student Feedback to Improve Teaching and Learning

Gathering qualitative student feedback on your teaching can provide rich information about students’ learning experiences and valuable insights into how to improve your courses. However, qualitative feedback from midterm feedback surveys, FCQ comments, and other sources can be emotionally and cognitively challenging to process. In this session, participants will learn strategies for systematically reviewing, reflecting on, and using open-response feedback, exchange tips with fellow educators, and begin to review student feedback from one of their courses. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to attend the earlier workshop on gathering midsemester feedback (Friday, August 28). Please bring midsemester student feedback responses, past FCQs, or other open-response student feedback to use during the workshop.
