We’ve all seen the videos; whether it’s a marriage proposal or just a fun stunt, flash mobs are fun ways to bring a community together and do something unique. Well, Boulder — if you’ve always wanted to participate in a flash mob, but never had the opportunity, we here’s your chance.
The founder of the Boulder based group, Boulder Flash Mob, is looking for a few fun individuals to help make a scene this holiday. The group had a rousing success with their Thriller flash mob on Halloween, with over 100 people participating in the choreographed spontaneity. Plus, they had a crowd of more than 500 onlookers watch the scene unfold.
They want to spread some holiday cheer this month and are looking for participants in their next big scene. If you’re interested, the flash mob will take place on December 14th around dinner time and there are two rehearsals beforehand.
One happens this Saturday, December 7th from 1:30-2:30 pm and the other is on December 14th at the same time at Alchemy of Movement (2436 30th Street). The cost is $5 or $10 to cover the logistics of using the dance space. Please also bring a red Santa hat that you can easily hide somewhere on your body before the designated dance time.
If you’re worried about two classes not being enough to learn the steps, there’s no need because all of the choreography will be available on their website (www.BoulderFlashMob.com) after the December 7th class. So you can practice away in the privacy of your own home to make certain that you are ready to dance your heart out come December 14th.
If you’re interested in participating or have a few more questions, you can contact Patty Shull, the founder, through the website and will be able to answer all of your questions. As for the location, I’m keeping that a secret for now.
