You know what’s hilarious? How little sleep I got last night and the topic I’m writing about this morning. Absolutely. Hilarious.
I’m a huge fan of sleep. Here in Boulder, we’re ready to wake at the crack of dawn to capture some of the Foothills-flavored, crisp morning goodness year-round. But are we part of a bigger movement — one towards humans getting less sleep overall? That’s the question Kat Duff explores in her new book, “The Secret Life of Sleep.” She’ll be at the Boulder Book Store this evening to share the result of research that indicates that we’re getting less sleep than ever.
And it’s a problem.
Right now, I agree wholeheartedly.
If sleep is something you hold dear and makes you a bit like a rabid wildebeast when you don’t get enough of it, then get your nap on and head down to Boulder Book Store tonight. This is one of their regular voucher events. Vouchers can be purchased for $5 at the door and are redeemable for $5 off your purchase that same evening.

It has become clear that our sleep shapes who we are as much as we shape it. While most sleep research hasn’t ventured far beyond labs and clinics, The Secret Life of Sleep taps into the reservoir of human experiences to illuminate the complexities of a world where sleep has become a dwindling resource. With a sense of infectious curiosity, Kat Duff mixes cutting-edge research with insightful narratives, surprising insights, and timely questions to help us better understand what we’re losing before it’s too late.
We’ll see you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at Boulder Book Store this evening. Be sure to arrive early to grab a good seat and spend some time in the shelves before the event begins. There’s always something good hiding — maybe even a cat nap.
