Heads up fitness buffs (or those looking to get in better shape). It’s possible that your smartphone just might be the most powerful tool in your fitness toolbox!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a serious athlete or just someone who loves staying in shape. Today’s fitness apps make it easy to track — and celebrate — your fitness successes.
Here’s a list of the hottest ones on our radar these days. Who knows — you just might find one or three that are must-downloads for your own fitness habits and goals.
Sleep Cycle: Your days begin before you even wake up, so how’s that night’s sleep treating you? Check out Sleep Cycle — a cool app that tracks your sleep patterns and helps demystify why you feel the way you do. It even wakes up up when you’re in your lightest sleep phase (because coming out of a deep sleep just sucks).
Strava: Track your cycling or walking/running miles with ease. And we hear it’s pretty good for activities like skiing and snowshoeing, too! Just pop open Strava and begin tracking your workout. You can also use Strava to track all of your workouts, getting a clear picture of your output over time. Pretty good for bragging rights over beers!
RunKeeper: Ever wish you had a single app that tracked all of your runs? Grab RunKeeper. Not only does it make run tracking easy, you can easily share your workouts with friends. It’s a great tool for training for a 5k or 10k, or maybe even a half marathon. And it’s free.
FitBit: It’s more than just an app! FitBit tracks your calories, activity, and sleep using a special wristband that syncs with the FitBit app on your phone. It’s not free, but it’s the ultimate in fitness app geekdom.
