Hey there Boulder. How’re you holding up? We’re still here, staying home, wearing our fashionable face masks, and doing all those things that keep us safe and healthy. Hey. Times are tough. Don’t worry, when Boulder opens back up again, we will resume with the events listings you’ve come to rely on for all your best choices for weekend fun. For now, though, here’s some cool stuff and good news of neat things happening all across our fair city…
Brooklyn Barber Academy
Brooklyn Barber Academy is now located in Mylk House at 1501 Lee Hill Drive, Unit 15, Boulder, CO 80301. We are just north of Lee Hill Drive, right on 28th Street/Highway 36. See you there!
Art of Modeling
We produce regular & unique figure drawing events in Boulder. We also book professional fine arts models to area drawing groups, colleges, and commercial art studios.
Larsen Photo Co
I live, work, and play in Colorado for the same reasons you want to get married here. Hiking and feeling close to nature every day. Going to local farmer’s markets and spending too much money on cheese. Ordering everything from coffee to ice cream to cider in flights.

Trident Cafe & Bookshop
The Trident is normally one of Boulder’s favorite places to hang out. Now that we can’t hang out there, that hasn’t stopped them from providing Boulderites with the best used (and new) books, exotic teas, and expertly concocted coffees. They’re still going strong, but with deliveries and curbside pickup instead of the meeting place they used to be.
One of the coolest things Trident is delivering by bicycle across Boulder is their mystery bags. Each bag contains a handful of used and new books, and a bag of Trident’s excellent coffee or tea. Just pay the fee and wait with bated breath to see what you’ll get in your mystery bag. What a fun idea!
Howl at 8pm
You may have heard this new nationwide trend outside your home at 8pm each night. Fun fact—it was started by a couple of Denver locals. But this major nightly event has blown up, and you can hear all of Boulder howling each night.
What is it? Oh, haven’t you seen the Facebook group? It’s a simple thing, similar to the midnight scream that CU Boulder used to do during finals week. Each night at 8pm, people step out onto their porches, stoops or balconies, and they howl. That’s it.
Why? A few reasons: relieving tension is the main one. Connection with others who are sequestered. Some howl for lost loved ones or to honor the front line essential workers out there saving us. Whatever the reason you want to, it’s a fun way to let loose when you’re feeling trapped or crazy from cabin fever.
Yoga for Misanthropes
Yoga For Misanthropes is your hub for all the in-home exercise and mind-body integration you need to stay healthy in the quarantine. Started by yours truly, a Boulderite from 45 years and running, this goofy YouTube channel began as a yoga series with attitude, for people who don’t want the classic woo-woo Boulder yoga class experience. It has now become a balm for the physical and mental health of all of us in lockdown.
The YouTube channel focuses on both basics and intermediate sequences, comprised from yoga, Pilates, dance, and martial arts practices. These are all meant for easy following in your living room—no equipment, large studio spaces, or lululemon clothing required.
Dairy Center For the Arts
Free Range Dairy: the Dairy Center is going strong with all of the cultural & artistic events that brought us out to the facilities within the building each weekend in the Before Times. It’s all there still, it’s just now done safely and at distance, virtually. Some of the many arts provided at the newly online Dairy Center include:
-A virtual movie theatre
-Several recorded dance concerts (Cipollino going on through June 1st, Frequent Flyers sharing here & elsewhere, Boulder Ballet, etc.)
-Their art gallery has turned into a digital art exhibition
-Stories on Stage doing virtual performances
-Stage magic: both performances & monthly how to videos
Here Kitty Kitty
So. There are mountain lions roaming in Boulder, as far down in town as the Goss/Grove area. Now some say this isn’t so unusual for Boulder, just that we’re all home to see them. Others are citing this as one more example of nature coming back once the humans aren’t so much all over the place anymore. Whatever the case, the big native kitties have been all over, particularly during our recent big snowstorms.
