Some people are morning people.
Some people…aren’t.
If you’re one of those who…isn’t…we found a few apps that might make the distance from your bed to the front door a bit shorter each morning. We’ll warn you, though — they might make you want to heave your smartphone into a brick wall. These alarm clock apps aren’t just alarm clock apps.
They’re apps designed for the most stubborn of souls. If that’s you, sleepyhead, see which one you want to give a whirl.
BetterMe: Will you really be “better” if you get up on time? Well, BetterMe keeps your sleep and waking habits on the down-low. That is, until you miss a wakeup. The app will post a message to Facebook about how lazy you are for all your friends to see. “Think of it as a productivity app aimed at using public humiliation as a motivator to help you jump out of the bed in the mornings.” (this from the app’s App Store description).
FreakyAlarm: Want to add gamification to your wakeup process? I don’t, but you might. You can’t snooze this app. It’ll take you through a series of puzzles, games, and even make you photograph pre-identified items to make the alarm stop ringing. Seriously. It’s your smartphone and your sanity. Maybe a solution for the most stubborn sleepers.
Wake-N-Shake: First, the name alone is pretty intimidating. It’s been dubbed “merciless” by multiple news sources and the app creators themselves. The only way to shut the alarm of is to get up and shake your smartphone violently until the alarm stops. It’s $1.99 worth of torture. We don’t suggest trying it if you live in a house with brick walls or polished concrete floors. Or a home where you can chuck your phone out the window with ease. We’ve even included their demo video for your viewing pleasure. You’re welcome.
