West Flanders Brewing Co. is a brewery and restaurant nestled in the heart of Boulder’s walking mall at 1125 Pearl St. The brewpub includes two floors to seat its customers and has an outside patio to sit directly on the mall itself, which is one “hot” property, any time of day, at this bustling watering hole and eating house.
If you like hamburgers you’ve definitely come to the right place. You can’t go wrong with their standard BBQ Bacon Burger or the tasty Chicken and Pesto Burger. For people with more adventurous taste buds, they can try the Flanders Pork Burger, the Black Truffle Honey Burger or the Poutine Burger, which are chicken gravy, Wisconsin cheese curds, lettuce, and tomato.
Here’s a heads-up! You should be aware that the hamburgers on the menu do not include fries and you have to pay an extra four dollars to get an order of French fries with it.
The West Flanders menu also includes more daring dishes for your palette, like the Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese, the Pepperoni Pizza Mac and Cheese and also the Pretzeled Chicken Pot Pie. For something more “healthy” you and yours could try their Southwest Salad, with mixed greens, romaine, red bell pepper, toasted corn and cilantro relish, avocado with chipotle vinaigrette.
The thing West Flanders Brewing Co. has going for them most is their “Belgian inspired” beer and the back of the restaurant sports an open architecture style with a sunroof shining down on their large and shiny fermentation tanks.
If you want to learn about the twelve-step fermentation process then just head to the back and read the black-and-white-chalkboard-style-outline they’ve had printed up on the wall. Also in this back-bar area, you will find plenty of screens to watch televised sports.
They brew plenty of beer with funny names like the “Bears. Beets. Belgian Dubbel.”, the “Angry Monk,” “It was all a Cream…” cream ale, and the “Trippel Lutz” Belgian Trippel at 7.7% abv, just to name a few.
Also, when you’re at the bar, ask about their unique selection of “barrel-aged” beers to try.
Happy Hour is 3-6pm on weekdays and everyday 9 pm to close. During Happy Hour take advantage of $2 off beer pints, $3 dollars off cocktails, $6 select wines, $2 dollar of house beer flights, $2 off crowlers, and $2 off appetizers.
Don’t forget that “anytime the temperature drops below 20 degrees” it’s instantly Happy Hour and West Flanders has a temperature gauge hanging next to the entrance just to make sure you know what the weather is doing in this small mountain town we love, where it can always unexpectedly snow in April or May!
