Louisville is its own city in Boulder County, just east of Boulder, and its downtown is small enough to walk for a whole day without ever moving the car. Main Street and Front Street run near each other with a handful of cross streets tying them together, so you can park once and spend the rest of the day on foot, as long as you pick a spot where the posted signs allow the stay you have in mind.

Getting there
RTD's DASH connects Boulder and Lafayette by way of Louisville, so you don't have to drive if you'd rather not. The RTD schedule page carries the route along with its return trips, which is the part worth looking at before you go. Driving from Boulder, head east on South Boulder Road and turn right on Main, the same approach the library's directions page gives.
Start with breakfast
Begin at 700 Main Street, where The Huckleberry does breakfast and lunch and runs a bakery alongside. It sits at one end of the stretch you'll be walking, so you can eat first and then work your way down the street instead of doubling back later.

A few doors along at 728 Main, The Singing Cook stocks cookware, bakeware, utensils and kitchen linens, plus specialty food. Keep going to 820 Main and you'll find Little Horse Vintage and Books, listed in the downtown Louisville shop directory.
Main Street's older building fronts are a good argument for walking this slowly rather than efficiently. Look up as you go.

A beer in the afternoon
12Degree Brewing is at 820 Main as well, pouring Belgian-inspired ales. It opens in the afternoon earlier in the week and at noon Friday through Sunday, so it belongs later in your day, and its current hours are posted on its own site if you want to check before you walk over.
A quiet stop at the library
The Louisville Public Library is at 951 Spruce Street, over at Front and Spruce, and it's a public place to sit and read if you want an hour off the sidewalk. There are surface parking lots and a parking garage next to it. Hours and holiday closings are posted on the library's hours and directions page.
Dinner and dessert on Front Street
From there it's a short walk to 637 Front Street, where Lucky Pie has pizza and a patio. Sweet Cow shares the address, ice cream and a garden, and it's the original Sweet Cow, opened in 2010 in a former post office.
If you've got more time, Lafayette is the next town over and different enough to deserve its own trip, and there's more on the flatter country around both of them under the plains. But the easy ending is the one already in front of you, and the last call of the day is a patio table with pizza or a cone out in the garden.
