Boulder Bloody Marys and Mimosas: Liquid Brunch Options

Bottomless MimosasNo doubt you’re all planning on talking mommy dearest out for a very Boulder brunch this Sunday. I’m not entirely sure how brunch became the official meal of our annual matriarchal holiday, but I’m not going to complain because it’s my favorite meal of the day. However, if the idea of spending a few hours with the rest of your family makes you crave liquid tolerance, then I suggest finding a place with good bloody marys or bottomless mimosas.

For that matter, you don’t really need a holiday to celebrate with friends. Sometimes just being able to get more than four of you around a table at the same time is enough for celebration. A celebration that must be accompanied with mimosas and bloody marys. Hey, I don’t make the brunch rules I just follow them.

Without further ado, here are some of the places you can get your brunch and drink it too.

Bottomless Mimosas

Mimosas make me think of sunshine and patios. Make them bottomless and I can’t help but remember hours spent with friends drinking mimosas, playing Phase 10 and laughing until our sides hurt.

I’m of the opinion that anything over $5 is far too much to charge for a mimosa since I can make one on my own for half that, so when I’m planning a brunch with no end time, I look for bottomless mimosa deals. Sadly, I can’t find that many in Boulder so if you know of any other places that offer bottomless mimosas in Boulder, please let me know because I would like to drink there.

If you’re going for a pinky up kind of brunch, I recommend Jill’s at the St. Julien Hotel. They have a buffet style brunch for $34.95 which includes bottomless everything: mimosas, bloodies and sparkling wine. If you’re looking for a more relaxed meal just off the Pearl Street Mall, then post up at Shine and get your fill of their mimosas made with organic OJ.

Honorable mention goes to The Buff Restaurant, which doesn’t offer bottomless mimosas, but does offer 99-cent mimosas when you get an entrée (with a limit of three). That’s a happy price when it comes to boozing on a budget.

Bloody Marys

Let’s get this out of the way first: I know that almost any place that serves brunch offers bloody marys. If that’s all it takes for you, then you should be OK at any place you choose for brunch in Boulder. But if you like your bloodies elevated to a transcendental level, there are a few places that have people raving.

Continuing on the whole bar within a hotel theme from above, The Corner Bar, located within the Boulderado offers not just a bloody mary, but a bacon bloody mary. Paired with their chicken and waffles, the combination is sure to chase any hangover away. For a brunch on the Hill that’s not college comfort food, try Café Aion and their bloody marys, which are apparently quite delicious.

If you like a bloody so spicy that you momentarily lose the ability to talk after your first sip (that’s how I like mine), then try either the Boulder Café or Pearl Street Pub and Cellar, both located on Pearl Street within a block of each other. Specify spicy and prepare to get your socks knocked off.

Like I said, this is merely a drop in the bucket when it comes to finding bloody marys in Boulder. If you think that I’ve done a huge disservice and excluded a bloody mary that changed your life, please say something because I would also like to have a bloody mary change my life.

Of course, there’s more to brunch that just booze and it’s mostly about getting together with friends and family and having a great time over food. But the booze doesn’t hurt.
