The City of Boulder will host a Community and Council Forum on power reliability on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Council Chambers at 1777 Broadway. People who live or own a business in Boulder and want a chance to take part directly can sign up for the random selection pool until 2 p.m. on Sept. 30, according to the city's announcement. Sign-up details are in that announcement.
How participant seats work
The city says the forum has 20 seats in total. Ten of them are reserved for invited Boulder community members or business owners with lived experience related to the forum's topic. The remaining 10 will be randomly selected from the sign-up pool. The city says registration doesn't guarantee you'll be selected to participate.
You don't need a seat to follow along. The city says all community members are welcome to observe, either in person or virtually. The forum will be livestreamed on Channel 8 and on the city's YouTube channel.
What the forum covers
The city says it's identifying strategies to improve power reliability. Its stated aims include reducing how often outages happen, how long they last and how severe they are.
The evening includes a staff presentation, time for questions and small-group conversations with council members and city staff. Carolyn Elam, the city's Sustainability Senior Manager, said community members are experts in their own experience.
The city says the forum was developed through its Better Public Meetings Project.
