But tomorrow is a special occasion — there’s a sure-to-be-epic presentation down at the Aurora History Museum, and it’s dedicated to gamer culture. And since Boulder is full of gamers, this just might be the motivation you need to venture beyond county lines.
As a girl who was always more comfortable around a Qbert machine at the bowling alley than boys, the Aurora History Museum’s Growing Up Gamer exhibit is totally tops. In addition to a plethora of gamer memorabilia, gamers and pop culture enthusiasts get an added bonus at the museum this Wednesday. Grab a gaggle of your startup buddies and head down into Denver for Game On! An After Hours Celebration of Gaming.
For $25, you’ll be able to get your gaming geek on and participate in gamer trivia, grab snacks and adult libations, see a special talk from a gaming industry icon (it’s a surprise!), and then score a screening of a “1982 iconic sci-fi film.” Which may or may not be Tron, even though it’s not advertised on the program. And I may or may not know a person who knows a thing or two. And hey — I could be lying. But I’ll bet it’s Tron. The event runs from 4:30-8PM tomorrow evening (May 1).
When you head down tomorrow night, you’ll have full access to the entire Growing Up Gamer exhibit. And if you can’t make tomorrow night’s event, you can still sneak outside the Boulder Bubble and catch the exhibit through May 26. Grab your dog-eared copy of “Ready, Player One” and head down. Nostalgia is waiting.
