Boulder has been named not only the fittest and smartest city in the country, but the home to the happiest people as well. Of course, a big part of Boulderites’ happiness has to do with how gorgeous Boulder is. The city itself, and all the beautiful mountainous regions nestled up so close to the town, all combine to make our environment some of the prettiest in the nation.
So are Boulderites the happiest wed people in the country as well? I don’t actually have those statistics, other than general happiness, but what I do have is the top 5 best wedding venues in Boulder. Here are my choices (once again, I’m basing my findings on both personal experience and reviews of others, so if you know of a wedding venue that I’ve missed, let us know!)
Flagstaff Amphitheatre
There are a few beautiful outdoor facilities on Flagstaff mountain, but the one that’s the most used (and perfect) for weddings is the Sunrise Amphitheatre. Designed like a stone coliseum of old, the amphitheater seats many guests, and is not only a beautiful structure in its own right, but boasts an incredible view as a backdrop to the stage area.
Two things to remember about this venue: it’s booked nearly constantly (many Boulderites know very well what a perfect wedding space helps create), and it’s all outdoors. I have stories about high winds kicking up and almost making my wedding dress set sail (along with my bridesmaids), but that’s a tale for another day.
Hotel Boulderado
The Boulderado is a gorgeously Victorian space that is not only good for wedding ceremonies but receptions as well. Beyond how beautiful the lobby, mezzanine, and ballrooms are in this historic landmark, they also have sweet packages for any folks coming into town for your event, as well as an amazing looking bridal suite.
Their reception packages are surprisingly affordable and include blocks of rooms for guests as well as the aforementioned bridal suite, all with high-quality catering for whatever size group is celebrating with you. Located right smack downtown, you can show off our beautiful town to any of your out of town guests, and I can tell you from personal experience that speakeasy-style bar, License no. 1, located in its basement, makes for a spiffing afterparty.
Chautauqua Dining Hall
Speaking of the best food for post-ceremony celebrations, Chautauqua Dining Hall hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions all the time. One of the highest quality fine dining establishments in Boulder, the dining hall is also located right next to (basically pretty much in) the foothills, boasting a view of the flatirons that’s bar none.
Whether you have a hiking/outdoor ceremony up on the many chautauqua trails first and celebrate your reception at the Hall, or put the whole shindig there from start to finish, you’d be hard pressed to find a more beautiful venue than Chautauqua Dining Hall.
Riverside
The Riverside has been a lot of different things throughout Boulder’s history, and these days it has a beautiful event room upon its ground level, overlooking the Boulder Creek and Central Park.
Another venue that’s plonked right smack dab in the middle of downtown, The Riverside has the advantage of having a gorgeous nature-centered view, as well as being right in the middle of Boulder’s bustling downtown–it’s the best of both worlds and one of the best wedding venues in Boulder. They even create a custom, signature cocktail just for you when you celebrate your vows in their space.
Wedgewood Weddings Boulder Creek
Wedgewood Weddings is touted as being “the smart way to say I Do,” and their Boulder Creek offerings are some of the prettiest ceremony backdrops you’re likely to find. Expert wedding designers, Wedgewood will curate the perfect setting with the perfect accoutrements and have a variety of wedding packages for any couple’s needs.
