Best Destinations for a Working Lunch in Boulder

We’ve all been there. Work gets piled up throughout the morning (maybe even some leftover from the day before) and before you know it, it’s noon and you’re nowhere near caught up.

But still … you need to eat and you need it soon or else you’re going to get all hangry and productivity will go out the window.

Luckily, Boulder is a great place to grab a healthy meal without losing any time working. We looked for places that offer free Wi-Fi, have nice big tables and aren’t so busy that you feel pressured to leave even if you get in a groove and this is what we found. It’s by no means a comprehensive list, so if you have a favorite place to grab a working lunch in Boulder, please leave it in the comments.

The West End Tavern: Located right downtown, this place is great for hunkering down, grabbing some delicious bar food and getting productive. You can be faced with some dim bar lighting depending on where you sit downstairs, but the rooftop patio is to die for in the spring and summer (and sometimes fall and winter) months.

Reuben’s Burger Bistro: I realize that we tend to sing the praises of this downtown eatery, but it really is a great place to meet, eat or work; or some combination of those three. The space is bright and roomy, so you’ll never feel like you’re cramped in with your fellow diners.

The Yellow Deli: For some reason, this place makes me think of Hobbiton. If you feel like walking into a different world and enjoying homemade sandwiches and a mate tea, while working, this is the place to go. For all the charm and unique décor, they are remarkably work-friendly, with generous access to outlets and tables that are great for laptops.

Pho Basil: Don’t feel like American fare for lunch? Indulge in some Vietnamese comfort food and get some pho with your work. With comfy chairs and large tables, you’ll be able to get your fill of pho and be productive at the same time. Just make sure not to spill any broth on your keyboard!

Murphy’s North: Whether you’re just a little peckish or you’re ravenously hungry, Murphy’s has a menu to suit your appetite. While not every table is a big one, there are enough goodly sized tables that you shouldn’t be left wanting. This lighting in this place is standard bar lighting, so if you want some natural light and it’s pleasant out, go enjoy their patio and get your vitamin K along with a healthy meal.

Working while you eat is never the ideal situation to be in, but sometimes you just have to make it happen. Rather than sit at your desk and eat a sad microwaved burrito, why not venture out and grab a working lunch in Boulder? We have plenty of options and I’m sure the community will chime in with their favorite destinations as well.
