Centro Mexican Kitchen | Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Boulder, Co

There’s just really nothing much better to munch on sometimes than restaurant-style tortilla chips and salsa.  In fact, if we had to vote, it’s unanimous over here at YourBoulder.com that we approve of Centro Mexican Kitchen, who’s been serving them up warm, fresh and on the house to their customers daily across from the corner of 10th and Pearl at 950 Pearl St. in Boulder, Colorado.

How far can you get with 12$?

Hike on over to Centro Mexican Kitchen in your old pair of Teva sandals and buy a taco and a beer for less than 12 buck-a-roos, but don’t forget to ask for those free chips and salsa we just talked about!

Beat the Heat

Centro’s outside bar and patio awning was much appreciated on this sunny, 91 degree Saturday in good ol’ B-Town where we sipped an “El Corn” Dark Lager on draft, provided by Post Brewing, with a lime on the side of our pint glass.

Centro’s bar is unique in that it leaks from the inside out into a courtyard patio with plenty of tables for everybody.

The Authentic Mexican Food at Centro Mexican Kitchen

The “Grilled Chicken Al Ajillo” (marinated with garlic) taco we ordered had red chile mojo, onion, cilantro, and salsa cruda (raw salsa).  The taco cost $5.50 and came soft and face up.  The chicken was plentiful, tasty, and authentic!

Feast or Famine

If you’re a “Starvin’ Marvin,” be sure to get a table because you’ll get served much quicker. Unfortunately, when we were there, the guys at the bar were busy making drinks for waitstaff and acted kind of oblivious to us up there on our barstool.

Tequila for Days

Be sure to check out Centro’s large selection of tequila and other libations. In fact, their tequila list is so long you just might have to order their “Casa Noble Tequila Flight” and try several at one time along with a “sangrita” all for $17.

You can also shake-your-Margarita-ville-butt off at Centro.  Try their “Centro Marg” with Herradura Silver, Patrón Citronge, simple syrup, lime and salt air.  Salt air is a fancy, whipped-up foam made from basically sugar and salt.  (Look it up on YouTube like we did.)

Be Scene

If you want to see and be seen, then put on your summer dress and go get your drinks over at Centro, nightly, while Reggaetone vibes vibrate off their Boston brand outdoor speakers.

While we were there we heard the Spanish rendition of “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. Did you also know Nina Simone, Elvis and the Sex Pistols took a crack at that oldie-but-goodie?  Anyways, from Centro’s outside bar and patio you have a vantage point where you can gaze out at all the nightlife happening along the block at 10th and Pearl.

The Deetz You Need to Know

Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11am to 4pm with Dinner starting at 4pm.  Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2am and Happy Hour is all day Monday, then weekdays from 2-6pm.  Also you should know Mezcal Mondays and Tequila Tuesdays are a “thing” over at Centro Mexican Kitchen if you catch our drift.

A couple more good reasons to take a trip to Centro Mexican Kitchen:

  • For a taco and beer, you just can’t beat sitting in their outside bar and patio.
  • They provide a long list of tequila for you to peruse.
  • Chips and salsa are on the house.
  • One of Boulder’s “spicier” nightlife hot spots.
  • They serve breakfast burritos from 7:30am until 10:30am, Monday through Friday.
  • Happy Hour is all day on Monday!
