Via Perla Poised to Open in Boulder on March 21

The anticipation is over for curious diners in Boulder who have patiently watched the northwest corner of the intersection of Pearl and 9th transform from a flashy Tesla dealership, to a pile of rubble, to a brand new building that will house a handful of residential opportunities as well as one of Boulder’s newest additions to the city’s celebrated restaurant scene.

On March 21, Via Perla (which translates to “Pearl Street” in Italian) will officially open to the public for dinner at their new digs at 901 Pearl Street. The 4,000 square-foot restaurant is the third restaurant from Peg and Joe Romano, the culinary masterminds behind The Walnut Restaurant Group, which includes two of downtown Boulder’s most popular restaurants: The MED and Brasserie Ten Ten. The husband-and-wife team’s third restaurant was inspired by their love for Italian food and culture, and a phone call from the private developers of their new location who encouraged the Romanos to consider opening a new restaurant on the first floor of their new development.

The Romanos purchased the restaurant space for a cool $2.3 million dollars, who after over a year of developing the space, are officially opening the doors of Via Perla to the public for dinner on March 21. From the open kitchen, executive chef Kelly Kingsford and his team will be serving up a large menu inspired by classic Italian food and seasonal ingredients. Made-from-scratch, locally-sourced, fresh, and an assortment of high-quality ingredients imported from Italy will be the name of the game at Via Perla, whose ornate decor is inspired by Peg Romano’s many trips to Italy. The restaurant is also excited to celebrate Italian culture by serving a mid-day merenda (“snack time” in Italian) along with a traditional family-style supper every Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. The restaurant will seat roughly 160 people and will have full bar stocked with locally-made craft beer, wine and other spirits.

Following the March 21 grand opening, Via Perla will begin regular dinner hours starting at 4:30 p.m. on March 28. At the same time, they’ll also launch a snack hour from 3-6 p.m. Beginning Sunday, April 13, “Tutti a Tavola” family-style dinners will be served every Sunday. And on April 11, the restaurant will begin serving lunch at 11 a.m. daily.
