Have you ever found yourself walking down the Pearl Street Mall and suddenly, something catches your eye. No, it’s not one of the street performers (or something you can’t unsee).
It’s something peeking out through one of the many art gallery windows. A painting, perhaps a drawing or sculpture. Maybe even a piece of jewelry. Boulder’s art scene is vibrant and alive — and this year, Boulder’s making the most of it with the inaugural Boulder Arts Week.
Running March 28 through April 6, Boulder Arts Week incorporates everything from visual to performing arts (and some mixtures of the two). Nearly all of the week’s events are free to attend, save a few performances with tickets (which is okay because artists and musicians deserved to be paid for their labors). You’ll find everything from art exhibits to family-friendly events at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. Frankly, I think this is the perfect way to gear-up for better weather and bring in the spring. Before you know it, OpenArtsFest will be here in July and we’ll all be wondering, “Where’s the shade?” So, maybe I’ll see you out and about over the next week, weaving in and out of galleries and feasting eyes on the riches created by the brilliant and artistic minds that make up another glorious part of the local Boulder community.
