Boulder Rock Climbing Gyms: Movement

Your Boulder Movement Climbing Gym

If you want the newest of the Boulder rock climbing gyms, you don’t need to look any further than Movement. Located in the northeast sector of Boulder between 28th/Highway 36 and Foothills off of Valmont, Movement is as “green” as Boulder rock climbing gets without going outdoors. There are programs for everyone aged 5 to 95 and three levels of physically challenging fun to be had for anyone willing.

Unique Traits at Movement

If you’re a lover of eco-friendly business practices, Movement just might be your Boulder rock climbing gym. The building receives 80% of its power from solar panels.

Without a doubt, it’s the most energy-efficient construction among the climbing gyms in Boulder county, much less, the entire United States. The eco-friendly practices extend to the locker room as well, with all-organic products (hand soap, body wash, shampoo) filling the locker room and restroom areas. There’s even towel service included with your membership so you never have to sweat it if you leave your towel at home.

Climbing at Movement

Boulder is home to some of the world’s most elite rock climbers, so you’re sure to spot them on a rope from time to time. But let’s face it — most of us aren’t world-class lead climbers who can shimmy up a 5.12a without hanging a time or two. If that’s you, no worries. The staff at movement made sure there are climbing opportunities for every ability level.

Want to bring your kids and get them started (or help them continue) in rock climbing? Check out the youth programs at Movement. You can also check out the teams page for information on what a climbing team or club could do for your kids.

Are you new to the area and in need of a climbing partner? Check out the calendar and look for sessions called “The Rope Up.” You’ll find a friendly belay waiting for you from a member of the staff, and at no additional charge.

New to climbing and not sure where to start? Check out the amazing array of classes. Don’t miss the amazing Intro to Movement class, which gives you three 1.5-hour classes, a one-month gym membership, and gear rental (shoes and harness).

Want to learn new skills on the wall before you head outside for the year? The class schedule has classes that will help you learn to lead climb and even teach you advance lead climbing skills.

Love to boulder? Movement has you covered. There’s an amazing bouldering area with two walls with problems ranging from V0 to what the…and leave your crash pad at home. The entire floor is has built-in crash pads (and we can attest — they work just fine).

Into fitness, too? Perfect. Movement boasts a full class schedule including spinning, yoga, and boot camp-style workouts as well as cardio machines and a strength training area complete with freeweights.
